Stratford on Avon to Birmingham

Race Format
The JW Ultra is a 30mile trail event run predominantly along canal towpath. The surface underfoot will vary from smooth pavement to gravel & uneven grass, and even mud should the weather be inclement!Competitors will be expected to be self sufficient although water will be available at the two checkpoints to be spaced evenly along the route. Runners in the ultra race will be able to leave suitably marked special needs drink/food in a box at the start to be transported to each of the checkpoints.
Two formats are offered for the race, a straight 30mile solo ultra distance run or a relay of 3 x 10miles.
Registration & Start
Registration and the race start will be at the Seven Meadows Car Park at the end of the greenway in Stratford upon Avon.Please note that all entrants should receive an information pack prior to the evvent, numbers will be issued on the day at registration. Please arrive in plenty of time to register, pick up your number and prepare for the start!
Whilst cars may be left at the race HQ near the finish (parking available free of charge), it is the competitors responsibility to arrange transport to the start. The race is timed to allow public transport to be used from Bournville to Stratford upon Avon before the start.
Route
From the start the race follows the Stratford Greenway to the River Avon. After crossing the Avon the route drops to follow the river bank along a footpath, after a short detour through some woods (including some steps) it heads through parkland into Stratford itself. A little road running back across the river brings you to the canal basin.
The race route then follows the Stratford upon Avon canal through the Warwickshire countryside and on toward Birmingham. Following the canal towpath (includes one road crossing and a right turn onto the Birmingham & Worcester canal) takes the route straight to the finish next to Bournville station.

Finish
The finish will be near the road bridge over the canal by Bournville Station.
Drink and basic refreshments will be available for runners at the finish.

Parking, showers and most importantly bar facilities will be available here at the end of the race. (Ladies please note that in previous years the 'away' rugby team had taken the ladies changing rooms hostage and we're not about to pick a fight with them, but you can if you like)
