John Ward suffered a heart attack and died on 7th May 2007 He was a founder member of Bournville Harriers running club as well as a close personal friend and running mentor. He supported me phsically by turning up to watch me run and mentally during the times when i felt i wasn't good enough.
Therefore i wanted to do something which would be a fitting memorial to a man for whom running was the love of his life (after his wife and daughters). He was in training for the Comrades in South Africa and the run along the canal was the last run he did before he died so this seemed fitting.
